Dedicated Team

Our team is comprised of more than just experienced guides with great paddling skills. We also pay attention to all the little (and not so little) details.

Our staff is made up of local and international guides. Our Operations Manager is a permanent resident of the area and trains the guide team to be experts in the area so they can share the favourite spots only a resident local expert knows how to find.

We provide detailed info not just about your trip with us but also options to enjoy more of the region with our partner adventure companies and resorts. And we are here to answer any and all questions you have, before, during and after your trip.

Food, Glorious Food!

There is nothing like a delicious meal in the great outdoors! Read our reviews and you will see that Wildcoast understands what an important role food plays in your wilderness experience.

At the beginning of the season, we team up with local chefs to create our menu and train our staff. Each day, your guides take pride in preparing wholesome, fresh meals. Local fare, including wild salmon and locally grown vegetables, are all part of our coastal cuisine.

Also, we can accommodate special dietary requests. Just let us know any restrictions when booking and we will ensure that our cuisine meets your needs.

Safety First

Wildcoast guides are selected based on a combination of experience, love the outdoors and dedication to superior customer service. Prior to launching our first trips, Wildcoast holds on water training to prepare all staff for the upcoming season.

With the season underway, each day your experienced guides make decisions on kayaking routes having considered tides, weather and ocean conditions, in addition to group needs and the paddling dynamic.

They keep you informed via charts that let you map your progress of each kayaking expedition. While routes are discussed as a group, safety is paramount, therefore guides will ultimately determine the routes during the kayak tour to ensure the route chosen will be the best option.

Environment and Wildlife Responsibility

These days, understanding and acting appropriately to protect the environment is a given for adventure companies. After all, it’s the environment and the local wildlife that let’s us exist in the first place. Read more about our efforts towards Sustainable Adventure Tourism and take the Wilderness Pledge.

We also take several steps to keep abreast of the best ways to protect our surroundings and respect the wildlife including following government marine mammal regulations for wildlife viewing and maintaining strong relationships with the North Island Marine Mammal Stewardship Association and the Marine Education and Research Society.

We also advise First Nations in our region about our trips and have land use permits for the regions in which we operate our trips.
